The test most closely linked to calves on the ground.
A crush side test tells you the sperm are swimming. Morphology tells you whether they can do the job. Every sample is examined cell by cell at x1000, and borderline counts are doubled at no extra cost.
Head and acrosome. The head carries the genetic material and the acrosome lets the sperm into the egg. If the head is defective, no calf results, however well it swims.
Midpiece. The engine room that powers the tail.
Tail. Drives the sperm forward. Bent or coiled tails affect how well it moves.
Sending a sample.
Collect crush side, preserve, post. Here's the short version.
Preserve it
Add semen to a vial of buffered formal saline. The wrong preservative can damage the sample.
Pack it well
Seal vials in a bag, pad them, and send express post or courier. Never a paper envelope.
Email the file
Send your Bull Reporter II file number or our worksheet to admin@qsml.com.au.
